Meet Gilbert
Gilbert Smaby has committed his entire career to protecting the community while working in numerous life safety positions. He has worked with the citizens of our community to achieve their dreams, solve important issues and help bring projects to the finish line. Gilbert has always had the “can do” attitude and instills this philosophy in his current position as Mohave County Chief Building Official. He believes that being a District Supervisor is being a representative of the people in the entire County, not just the District. Gilbert supports law enforcement, public safety, believes in people’s property rights, accountable government, the Constitution and a God – fearing nation.

Mohave County is in a water crisis. We are constantly fighting for the Colorado River water allocations and concerns of ground water aquifer depletion. Gilbert supports continued action and discussion of water conservation and protecting available resources in order to allow continued growth and sustainability for our future.
Economic Development
Mohave County is growing. Gilbert supports smart growth that will bring industries and living – wage jobs to our communities. Smart growth will establish a strong economic base that allows for additional County revenue to support essential services our citizens expect and deserve.

Mohave County is currently in a revenue deficit. Gilbert has experience in managing and maintaining municipal budgets. He knows the importance of a balanced budget and is fiscally conservative. We all must learn to live within our means and we expect our government to do the same.
